A riddle to confuse ya'll (even more than you already are)

A man is found lying dead in the middle of a desert, with nothing but the clothes he is wearing, and a small straw. There are no tracks leading to or from him, and the closest city is hours away. How did he get there?

Okay I know this is the third time but I just thought of another solution.
A firefighting plane filled its tanks with water from a lake, sucking a scuba-diver in (this is an urban legend). He drown while the plane was in flight and was dumped onto to the desert with the water.
Don't ask me why they are dumping water onto a desert it was just a idea.

lol - good guesses, everybody - shay was the closest - the answer i heard was that a whole bunch of ppl were in a hot air ballon, and they had to get rid of some weight, so they drew straws, and short straw got tossed :) so yeah, close enough :)
